Imagine Madison is a public listening campaign designed to gather the opinions of every Madisonian to be used in planning the Madison of tomorrow.

Pop-Dot was chosen by the City of Madison to design this first-of-its-kind, public communications effort — the result of which will directly influence the contents of the City’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan.

Specifically, Pop-Dot was tasked by the Department of Planning to elicit the opinions of individual citizens across the broadest range of population segments possible. In response, Pop-Dot developed a branded campaign, which it aptly-titled: “Imagine Madison.”

Pop-Dot’s tagline for the campaign says it all: “People Powered Planning.” Imagine Madison will include community meetings, grassroots activation efforts, and social media engagement to empower anyone and everyone from the city to step forward and voice their opinions on issues that Madison faces now and in the future.

The Visual Identity

As part of the campaign launch, Pop-Dot unveiled the logo for Imagine Madison in October. The logo is the first visual element born from a strategic and creative collaboration between Pop-Dot and the City of Madison.

Pop-Dot set out to create a brand identity that was friendly, inclusive, approachable and reflective of the goals of Imagine Madison. Focusing attention towards the community, Pop-Dot designed a people-centric logo that features vibrant overlaying colors, representing both the different cultures and the perspectives of Madison residents. The incomplete font used in the brand name signifies a plan still in progress, waiting for the unique voices of Madison individuals to bring it to completion.

In the coming weeks, Pop-Dot and the City of Madison will be revealing more Imagine Madison visuals that can be seen across the city.
